Privacy Policy

Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how I, Michael Vescovo, collect, use, and handle your information when you use my apps BMBF8 and BMBF8 Analytics (together, "the Apps"). I am committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about my practices.

The Apps are personal, proof-of-concept projects built to explore Kotlin Multiplatform and Compose Multiplatform. BMBF8 simulates a banking-style experience (accounts, payments, transactions) for educational and entertainment purposes only — it is not a real banking application and does not handle real money, real accounts, or real financial institutions. BMBF8 Analytics is a companion app that visualises anonymised app-usage analytics.

Information I Collect

I collect the following types of information:

• Account information: When you sign up, I collect a username of your choosing, an email address, and a password, solely to identify your account and let you sign in. After you sign in, you can optionally add further profile details such as your name and location. These optional details are kept so they can be used for personalisation in the future.
• App data you create: Any simulated data you create while using the Apps (for example, simulated accounts and transactions in BMBF8) is stored against your account so you can access it on your devices. This data is fictitious and has no real-world financial meaning.
• Analytics data: Anonymised usage data such as screen views, feature interactions, device type, and approximate location derived from IP address. This data is aggregated and cannot be linked back to your identity.
• Crash and diagnostic data: When the Apps crash or encounter errors, anonymised crash reports and device diagnostics are collected so I can fix bugs. These reports do not include your name, email, or any content you have created.

How I Use Your Information

• To create and manage your account
• To authenticate you and provide access to the Apps
• To store the simulated app data you create and make it available across your devices
• To understand how the Apps are used in aggregate and improve them over time

I do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Third-Party Services

The Apps use the following third-party services. Each service handles data under its own privacy policy:

• Amazon Cognito (Amazon Web Services) — authentication and account management. See the AWS Privacy Notice.
• Firebase Analytics (Google) — anonymised product analytics. See the Firebase Privacy Notice and the Google Privacy Policy.
• Firebase Crashlytics (Google) — anonymised crash reporting and diagnostics. See the Firebase Privacy Notice.
• BMBF8 Analytics pipeline — BMBF8 additionally sends anonymised in-app events to a self-hosted Kafka/Redpanda pipeline that powers the BMBF8 Analytics companion app. These events do not contain your user identifier or any other personal information.

Account & Data Deletion

You can delete your account or your app data directly within the Apps at any time — no need to contact me. You must be logged in to access these options.

To delete your account and all associated data:

• Open the Profile screen (tap your profile icon)
• Tap Settings
• Select Delete account

This permanently deletes:

• Your account and login credentials
• All simulated data you created in any BMBF8 app (accounts, transactions, and other content)
• Your display name and profile information

To delete your app data without deleting your account:

• Open the Profile screen (tap your profile icon)
• Tap Settings
• Select Delete app data

This deletes all simulated content you created but keeps your account active so you can sign in again. You can also export your data from the Settings screen before deleting it.

Data that cannot be individually deleted: Analytics data is collected in anonymised, aggregated form (such as screen views and interactions) and cannot be linked back to individual users. As a result, it is not possible to identify or delete individual analytics records. This data does not contain any personal information.

Data Retention

I retain your account information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal account data is permanently removed with no additional retention period. Analytics data is anonymised and retained in aggregated form; it cannot be linked to individual users and is not subject to individual deletion requests.

Children's Privacy

The Apps are not directed at children under the age of 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. I encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the Apps after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
